Rock Climbing – Activity

Over the course of four rock-climbing sessions, I challenged myself physically and mentally while developing new skills and confidence. At first, the height of the walls and the unfamiliarity were intimidating, but each session helped me grow more comfortable with the environment. I improved my balance, grip strength, and climbing technique while also learning how to plan my movements instead of relying on strength alone. Working with peers and receiving advice as I climbed made the sessions more collaborative and enjoyable. By the final session, I could clearly see my progress as I completed routes that had seemed impossible at first. Over time, rock climbing became a meaningful learning experience in perseverance, problem-solving, and self-awareness.

LOI 1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

I recognized that I was good at staying calm under pressure and using balance effectively helping curate a better route for the climb. I also identified areas for improvement such as upper-body strength and grip endurance. Each session helped me understand my abilities more clearly and work on specific weaknesses.

LOI 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

Rock climbing presented consistent challenges. From overcoming the fear of falling to learning technical footwork and efficient movement helped in building more confidence and plan the climb netter. Over time, I developed new climbing skills, better body control, and the confidence to attempt the routes better than the last time.

LOI 4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

Attending all four sessions and steadily pushing myself, even when routes were frustrating or physically exhausting, demonstrated my commitment towards the activity. I kept trying different routes instead of giving up and pushed myself to attain improvement. Overtime, tangible improvement was seen and my climbs became more confident by each step.

LO5 – Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

Climbing with peers helped me build teamwork skills as we shared strategies, spotted our mistakes and encouraged one another. Watching how others approached the same route gave me new ideas, and offering feedback helped me understand the techniques more deeply. This made the route planning far smarter nad cleaner. Working collaboratively made problem-solving easier and the sessions more enjoyable.
