Farewell Football Match Organization for Grade 12
Introduction
As part of my CAS journey, I participated in organizing a farewell football match for the Grade 12 students. The objective of the event was to celebrate the graduating batch, encourage sportsmanship, and provide an opportunity for students to come together through sport. Organizing the event involved planning, coordination, communication, and teamwork to ensure that the match was enjoyable, safe, and memorable for everyone involved.
LO3 – Demonstrate How to Initiate and Plan a CAS Experience
The farewell football match required significant planning and organization. Along with my peers, I helped coordinate the event by discussing the match format, organizing teams, communicating with participants, arranging schedules, and ensuring that the necessary equipment and facilities were available. We divided responsibilities among team members and worked together to address challenges before the event. This experience taught me the importance of preparation, leadership, and effective planning in successfully organizing an event.
LO6 – Demonstrate Engagement with Issues of Global Significance
The event promoted physical activity, teamwork, and well-being, which are important global issues linked to healthy lifestyles and community development. Football encourages both physical and mental fitness while fostering social connections among participants. By helping organize the match, I contributed to creating an environment that promoted health, inclusion, and positive engagement within the school community. This experience helped me understand how sports can contribute to overall well-being and bring people together regardless of their backgrounds.
LO7 – Recognize and Consider the Ethics of Choices and Actions
While organizing the match, it was important to make fair and responsible decisions. We ensured that all participants had an equal opportunity to take part, that teams were balanced, and that the rules encouraged respect and sportsmanship. Safety considerations were also taken into account when planning the event. Through this experience, I learned the importance of fairness, inclusivity, and ethical decision-making when organizing activities that impact a larger group of people.
Conclusion
Organizing the Grade 12 farewell football match was a rewarding CAS experience that allowed me to develop planning, communication, and leadership skills while contributing to a memorable event for the graduating students. The experience highlighted the importance of teamwork, health and well-being, ethical responsibility, and careful organization.
