On 25th July 2025, I took part in a one-day trek to Bhavar Kada Waterfall in Dang. The trek lasted around four hours and involved walking through muddy trails, steep slopes, and rocky terrain, made even more challenging by continuous rainfall. This experience pushed me out of my comfort zone both physically and mentally and allowed me to reflect meaningfully on two CAS learning outcomes.
Learning Outcome 2 – Demonstrate challenges undertaken and develop new skills
The trek presented several challenges, especially due to the slippery ground and steep declines. At the beginning, I struggled to maintain balance and felt unsure while walking on uneven paths. However, as the trek progressed, I began to observe and adjust my movement. I learned to change my posture, take slower and more deliberate steps, and adapt my walking style to maintain stability. While climbing back uphill, I faced difficulty due to exhaustion and rocky surfaces, but I soon realized that bending slightly and using controlled movements helped reduce strain and improve balance. Through these experiences, I developed problem-solving skills, adaptability, and physical awareness, which helped me overcome obstacles and complete the trek successfully.
Learning Outcome 4 – Show perseverance and commitment in CAS experience
Throughout the trek, there were several moments when the physical discomfort tested my patience and motivation. The heavy rain, presence of insects, and muddy conditions made the experience tiring and uncomfortable. At times, I felt like giving up and returning home, but I reminded myself of the importance of staying committed to the experience. I continued walking despite the challenges and maintained a positive mindset. I also encouraged others when they felt tired or hesitant, offering support and motivation.
Conclusion
Overall, this trekking experience was demanding yet highly rewarding. It helped me build perseverance, develop practical problem-solving skills, and gain confidence in handling challenging situations. The trek reinforced the value of commitment and resilience, making it a meaningful part of my CAS journey.
