Bhavar Kada Waterfall Trek – Rain, Mud, and Fun
There are certain experiences that you know will stay with you for eternity; I know that my Bhavar Kada Waterfall Trek is one of them.
We started our day at 5:45 AM. Still yawning and half-asleep while punching in some excitement for the day. At that time, the sun had not yet come up, and the sky was covered with dark clouds, lightly drizzling while cooling the atmosphere. Upon commencement, the trek made it clear that it would not be straightforward. Muddy patches, slippery stones, and steep inclines playing with our balance and endurance. Each step we took was carefully placed, but the challenging nature also made it exhilarating.
The rain gradually increased, fully drenched in and out, mud plastered to our shoes, making us lose grip with each passing minute. Many fell multiple times – and instead of accusing groans with consequences, fell to the earth laughing and cheering themselves on. Each time we stopped to ensure everyone was okay, had snacks to share, and continued. The enjoyable trek was appropriately laden despite my legs aching with all of the uphill endeavors for four hours.
Finally reaching the destination – Bhavar Kada Waterfall – was heavenly to witness after four hours of continuous walking. The water plummeted from above like a thunderstorm, creating mist like clouds all around us. Instead of standing there freezing, we sat beneath the waterfall for 40-minutes straight. The water smacked against our backs like a sucker punch. Still, it was also refreshing and invigorating as we cheered while splashing one another and ourselves.
LO1 – Identify Own Strengths and Develop Areas for Growth
During this excursion, I realized I possess the ability to remain calm amid chaos – but I also learned that my leg and cardiovascular strength needs improvement due to this expedition.
LO2 – Demonstrate That Challenges Have Been Undertaken, Developing New Skills
I learned how to tread on slippery rocks, maintain balance in muddy patches, and adjust striding on uneven paths – skills I will take with me onto my next trek!
LO5 – Demonstrate the Skills and Recognize the Benefits of Working Collaboratively
As a group, we had to help one another get up after fall, share belongings and food, and keep everyone motivated along the way for it was safer and more enjoyable as a unit than as individuals. It’s an experience I will never forget!
