Children’s Day Carnival Games Stall (Service)

The Children’s Day Carnival organised by our school was a meaningful initiative aimed at creating a fun and educational experience for children from nearby government schools. As part of my CAS service activity, I worked with two other students to manage a games stall. Our goal was to engage the children in an enjoyable activity while allowing them to earn tokens that could be exchanged for stationery items at other stalls.

LO3: Initiate and Plan a CAS Experience

My teammates and I designed a game that combined learning with fun. The children had to pick a chit containing a statement about moral values and determine whether it was true or false. After answering, they had to throw a ball into the correct basket labelled “True” or “False.” Planning the game required creativity and careful thinking to ensure that it was simple, engaging, and meaningful for the participants.

LO5: Demonstrate Skills and Benefits of Working Collaboratively

Since there were three of us managing the stall, teamwork was essential for running the game smoothly. One of us explained the rules to the children, another managed the chits and baskets, while the third handled the distribution of tokens. By coordinating our roles effectively, we were able to create an organised and enjoyable environment for the children.

LO6: Engagement with Issues of Global Significance

The statements used in the game were based on values such as honesty, kindness, and respect. Encouraging children to think about these principles helped promote awareness about ethical behaviour and responsible citizenship. These values are important globally, as they contribute to building respectful and compassionate communities.

LO7: Recognise and Consider the Ethics of Choices and Actions

The game itself focused on ethical decision-making, as children had to evaluate whether statements about moral behaviour were true or false. Additionally, we ensured that tokens were distributed fairly so that every child felt appreciated and encouraged. This helped reinforce the importance of fairness and integrity.

The Children’s Day Carnival stall was a highly rewarding service experience. It allowed me to interact with younger students, promote ethical values, and contribute positively to their learning and enjoyment.
