As a member of the Organizing Committee for FS MUN, I worked in the Decor Committee, where my responsibility was to execute assigned decor tasks and ensure that the venue reflected the professionalism and global spirit of the conference. Although I was not the OC head, my role required accountability, efficiency, and full commitment to every task given to me. My aim was to contribute meaningfully to the visual presentation of the conference and support the overall success of the event.
Learning Outcome 6: Demonstrate engagement with issues of global significance
MUN focuses on globally significant issues such as climate change, human rights, and international cooperation. Although my role was in decor, I was contributing to a platform that encourages awareness and discussion of these issues. Being part of the organizing process made me more aware of how global challenges require dialogue and collaboration among nations. These issues are significant because they impact societies worldwide and shape the future of younger generations like mine. Contributing to an event centered around global discourse made me feel responsible and proud, as I was indirectly supporting youth engagement with real-world problems.
Learning Outcome 5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
Working in the Decor Committee required coordination with other members to ensure consistency and efficiency. I had to communicate clearly, adapt to feedback, and complete my tasks in alignment with the team’s progress. Working with others is generally manageable for me, and this experience reinforced how important teamwork is in large-scale events. Even though I was responsible for my own tasks, the final outcome depended on everyone fulfilling their roles effectively. This activity showed me that collaboration ensures smoother execution and better overall results.
Learning Outcome 4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
Preparing for MUN required sustained effort, attention to detail, and balancing responsibilities with academics. There were moments when deadlines felt stressful, but I remained committed to completing my tasks to the best of my ability. Perseverance was especially necessary when adjustments had to be made or when tasks required extra time and precision. This experience strengthened my sense of responsibility and reliability. It reminded me that even if you are not leading, your dedication and consistency play a crucial role in the success of a larger initiative.
Conclusion
Being part of the FS MUN Decor Committee as an OC member allowed me to strengthen my planning, teamwork, and commitment skills. I learned that every role in an event matters, and giving your full effort—even in assigned tasks—contributes to a successful outcome. This experience enhanced my organizational abilities while deepening my appreciation for global discussions and collaborative effort.
