About the Activity
I participated in the Garba Fest where I performed Garba, a traditional folk dance originating from Gujarat. The event brought together students to celebrate culture through music and dance. Performing graba requires practice, coordination with other dancers, and maintaining rhythm and energy throughout the performance requires strength.
LO1 – Identify strengths and develop areas for growth
Through participating in Garba, I realized that one of my strengths lies in my ability to quickly learn choreography and synchronize movements with music. However, I also identified areas for growth, such as improving stamina and maintaining consistent energy throughout long dance sequences. This experience motivated me to further develop my physical endurance and confidence in performing in front of a large audience.
LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken
Learning and performing Garba choreography posed challenges, particularly in maintaining coordination with a large group and keeping up with the fast-paced rhythm of the music. Overcoming these challenges helped me develop better concentration and adaptability during performances.
LO5 – Demonstrate collaborative skills
Garba is inherently a group dance, and performing it required close collaboration with my peers. We practiced together, supported each other in mastering steps, and ensured that our movements were synchronized. This experience strengthened my teamwork and communication skills.
