CAS (Service): (Government Saturday School, Bhestan, Surat-Navsari Road)

LO 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

Teaching the students can be challenging because each child learns at a different pace and has different levels of focus. I have to adjust my explanations and activities so everyone can participate and understand. Through this experience, I have developed better patience, communication skills, and the ability to adapt my teaching style depending on the students’ needs.

LO 3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

Before every session, I plan simple and creative activities related to arts and design that the students can easily follow. Since I manage the group myself, planning is important to ensure that the class stays structured and engaging. This has helped me become more organized and thoughtful when preparing activities.

LO 4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

One of the biggest commitments in this experience is the travel. I live in Vesu, which is quite far from Bhestan, but I still make the effort to go every Saturday because I genuinely enjoy teaching the students. Even when it requires time and effort, I remain dedicated because seeing the children learn and enjoy the activities makes it worthwhile.

LO 7: Recognize and consider the ethics of choices and actions

While teaching, it is important to treat every student equally and ensure that everyone feels included and supported. I try to encourage each child and appreciate their efforts so that they feel confident sharing their ideas and creativity.

Final Takeaway

This experience has been very meaningful for me, and I still continue to participate in it. I look forward to going every week because I enjoy spending time with the students and seeing their creativity grow. Teaching them has helped me become more responsible, patient, and confident. It reminds me that even small efforts, like giving time to teach and guide others, can make a positive impact on someone’s learning and confidence.
