CAS (Service): Bal Mela(Fountainhead)

LO 1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth

During Bal Mela, I realised that I am good at interacting with children and making them feel comfortable. I helped guide them during painting activities and encouraged them to participate in dancing. I also took videos of the event to capture their creativity and energy. Through this experience, I recognized my strengths in communication, patience, and creativity. However, I also noticed that managing many children at once can be overwhelming, which showed me that I need to improve my organization and multitasking skills.

LO 2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

The event was challenging because around 2000 children from government schools participated, and they were all excited and active at the same time. It required patience and quick thinking to guide them through painting activities while also recording important moments of the event. Through this experience, I developed better leadership, communication, and observation skills.

LO 3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience

Before the event, we understood our responsibilities and how the activities would be organized. Since many children were participating, planning was important to ensure that everyone could take part in painting and dancing without confusion. This helped me understand how preparation and coordination are essential for managing large events.

LO 4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences

The event required a lot of energy because we had to stay active and attentive throughout the day. Even when it became tiring, I stayed committed to helping the children enjoy the activities and making sure everything ran smoothly. This experience showed me the importance of perseverance and responsibility.

LO 5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively

Bal Mela required teamwork between students, teachers, and volunteers. We worked together to guide the children, manage activities, and ensure that everyone had a positive experience. Collaboration helped the event run successfully and showed me how teamwork makes large events more organized and enjoyable.

Final Takeaway

Overall, Bal Mela was a meaningful experience because it allowed me to contribute to a joyful environment for many children. Seeing them enjoy dancing and painting was the highlight of the day. It gave me a sense of satisfaction and reminded me that small efforts can create a big impact. This experience helped me grow in patience, teamwork, and leadership, and it motivated me to continue participating in activities that support and inspire others in the community.
