As part of FS Got Talent, a celebration of our school’s creativity through dance, music, stand-up comedy, and student-led booths, I was a member of the decor committee. My role was to plan and set up decorations that matched the vibrant energy of the event. On the event day, I also supported organizational tasks to ensure everything ran smoothly. My goals were to practice event planning, enhance creativity through design, and contribute to the overall atmosphere of the celebration. I also aimed to strengthen teamwork skills while committing to my responsibilities as part of a larger organizing team.
LO 3: Demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience
Planning the decor required organization, creativity, and coordination. We had to brainstorm themes, arrange materials, and ensure everything was ready within limited time and resources. At first, it was difficult to balance big ideas with practical constraints, but I learned to prioritize what would have the greatest impact. This experience showed me that careful planning combined with flexibility makes event management more effective.
LO 5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
The decor committee worked as a team, where each person’s ideas and efforts contributed to the final outcome. Working collaboratively made the process faster and more enjoyable. We divided tasks, helped each other during setup, and combined creative inputs to design something better than what one person could have achieved alone. This reinforced the importance of teamwork in creating large-scale events.
LO 4: Show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experiences
The work demanded long hours and continuous effort—both in preparation and during the event. Despite being tired and sometimes stressed, I stayed committed to my role and gave my best to ensure the decor was completed on time. Seeing the final decorations in place and the positive reactions from the audience made all the perseverance worthwhile.
