FS GOT TALENT – Creativity

Introduction: For my CAS creativity experience, I volunteered as part of the decoration and design team for FS Got Talent. My responsibility was to help create the stage design, visual décor, colour theme arrangements and overall aesthetic setup for the event. I worked on planning decoration materials, coordinating theme ideas, and assisting in setting up the final presentation space before the event.

Learning outcomes reflection:

1. LO1 – Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth: Through this CAS experience, I discovered that one of my major strengths is creativity. I am able to clearly imagine how decorations will appear on stage and choose combinations that look aesthetically appealing. I realised that I have good artistic judgement and can contribute creative ideas that improve the overall theme of an event. However, I also became aware of areas where I need improvement. I need to manage my time more effectively during this time, and I should be faster. By understanding both my strong sides and the areas that require growth, I can plan better for future planning and work more efficiently. Also sometimes, especially during venue decoration, there were misunderstandings and miscommunication, particularly when managing time and coordinating multiple tasks at once. This showed me that organisation, clarity in communication, and timely planning are also very important skills in creative work.

2. LO2 – Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process: This experience was challenging because we had to complete the decoration within a limited time frame and with limited resources. There were moments when certain materials did not match the theme or did not look good once placed, so we had to quickly adjust and find better alternatives. I had to remain calm, think, and make quick decisions. Through this challenge, I developed problem solving skills and became more flexible while making decisions. I learned how to stay calm and be extra creative even when situations were not so perfect. This also helped me train how to work under pressure and still stay focused on achieving result. By overcoming these challenges increased my confidence and prepared me to handle such event tasks more independently.

3. LO5 – Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively:
This experience required lot of teamwork because this event decoration cannot be managed by one person alone. I worked with I worked with multiple students and each of us had different ideas, perspectives and creative ideas. We had to discuss, share suggestions, and choose what design would best fit the theme of FS Got Talent. I learned how to actively listen to others, respect their viewpoints, and sometimes compromise if my idea was not the most suitable for the final outcome. This helped me understand that in teamwork, it is not always about individual ideas but about what supports the majority. I also communicated clearly whenever changes were needed, especially when things had to be adjusted at the last moment. I learned how to divide responsibilities, tasks, and coordinate so that the decoration was completed on time. Through this process, I realised that working together creates stronger results than working independently because everyone brings unique strengths and skills. This experience strengthened my communication skills, patience, cooperation, respect, and group.

Working with the core team helped me improve my teamwork skills. I helped with decorating the venue, shared creative ideas, and supported other volunteers with their tasks. Being with different people taught me how to communicate clearly, listen carefully, and respect everyone’s opinions. I realised that when we work together, the results become better and the work becomes easier to manage. This experience showed me that teamwork needs flexibility, support for each other
