Recently, I had the opportunity to be part of the core committee for FS Got Talent. This was one of my first major responsibilities after joining a new school, and I worked alongside five other girls to plan and execute the entire event. From organizing auditions to managing event-day logistics, the whole process was intense, fun, and full of learning.
LO2 – Taking on Challenges and Developing New Skills
Since I was new, stepping into such an important role was definitely a challenge. I was still figuring out how everything worked and getting to know people. But once the work began, I got fully involved by helping with the auditions, assigning volunteer roles, and coordinating multiple things at once.
I also explored areas I hadn’t worked in before, like designing graphics, developing the theme, and managing presentation slides. Juggling so many different responsibilities taught me how to stay calm under pressure, multitask, and communicate more clearly.
LO3 – Initiating and Planning a CAS Experience
Being in the core committee meant we were involved in every step right from the start. I helped prepare the audition rubric, organized the schedule, assigned backstage and front-end roles, and even sent out invitations to teachers. I also met with the tech team of our school to help finalize judges and flagged a few potential problems in advance, which really helped us plan better.
This experience taught me how important it is to pay attention to the little details when planning something on this scale. It wasn’t just about talent, it was about creating a well-organized, smooth-flowing event.
LO5 – Working Collaboratively
One of the most rewarding parts of the experience was working so closely with the rest of the core team. All six of us brought different strengths to the table from creativity to coordination. We divided responsibilities but constantly helped each other when needed, whether it was preparing the decoration, managing tech, or solving last-minute issues.
I also stayed in regular contact with our volunteers through messages, meetings, and emails to make sure everyone was clear on their roles. This helped the whole team stay organized and connected throughout.
LO7 – Ethics in Choices and Actions
During the auditions and selection process, we made a point to be completely fair. Every decision was based on talent and performance not friendships or personal preferences. While assigning volunteer roles too, we tried to distribute responsibilities equally so everyone got to contribute meaningfully.
Even when we were choosing design elements and planning the event theme, we made sure everything was respectful and inclusive. We wanted the show to feel welcoming and enjoyable for everyone involved.
Final Reflection
Organizing FS Got Talent was a genuinely memorable experience. I challenged myself in new ways, picked up so many practical skills, and worked with an amazing team. It felt great to contribute to something that brought so much excitement and positivity. More than anything, I now feel more confident in my abilities and even more motivated to take on bigger roles in future CAS projects.
