As part of my CAS Creativity experience, I was a member of the FSMUN Decor Team, where I contributed to creating a formal and professional environment for the Model United Nations conference. Our role was to design and set up the venue in a way that reflected a diplomatic and organised atmosphere. I assisted in preparing signage, banners, and other decorative elements, ensuring everything was neat, visually appropriate, and aligned with the formal tone of the event.
Through this experience, I learned that creativity is not just about being expressive but also about maintaining purpose and appropriateness, especially in formal settings. Despite time constraints and last-minute changes, our team worked efficiently to make necessary adjustments and ensure everything was ready on time. Overall, it was a valuable experience that strengthened my ability to think creatively within structured guidelines while working under pressure.
LO1: Identify own strengths and develop areas for growth
This experience helped me recognise my strengths in creativity and attention to detail while working on decorations like banners and signage. At the same time, it showed me areas for improvement, such as managing time and handling pressure during last-minute changes. Coming early to school consistently for almost a month also helped me build discipline and a stronger sense of responsibility.
LO2: Demonstrate that challenges have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process
Preparing for FSMUN was challenging due to the strict requirement of maintaining a formal and professional setup while still being creative. Time constraints and last-minute adjustments added to the difficulty. However, I adapted to these challenges by thinking quickly and working efficiently, which helped me develop skills like problem-solving, flexibility, and working under pressure.
LO5: Demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
Working as part of the Decor Team required constant coordination and teamwork. We had to divide tasks, share ideas, and ensure everything came together smoothly. This experience helped me understand the importance of communication, cooperation, and supporting each other to successfully execute a large-scale event.
Overall, this experience helped me grow by improving my creativity, teamwork, and ability to handle responsibility under pressure. It showed me the importance of discipline, especially through consistent preparation, and how working collaboratively can lead to the successful execution of a well-organized and professional event.
